Description | Drosophila elegans is a flower-feeding species of fruit flies, belonging to the family Drosophilidae. It is found in Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. It belongs to the Drosophila melanogaster species group where it forms it own subgroup. There are two morphs (brown and black) of the species. The difference is due to the percentages of 7-pentacosene and 9-pentacosene on the cuticle. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drosophila_elegans Genome update. Previously, the i5k Workspace@NAL hosted Drosophila elegans genome assembly Dele_2.0 (GCF_000224195.1), NCBI Drosophila elegans Annotation Release 101, and Annotation v0.5.3 of the Drosophila elegans assembly using Maker (Baylor College of Medicine) as part of the Drosophila modENCODE project. The assembly and annotations have been updated to the most recent assembly, GCF_018152505.1 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/assembly/GCF_018152505.1), and annotations, NCBI Drosophila elegans Annotation Release 102 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/annotation_euk/Drosophila_elegans/102/). |
