This genome project is a joint effort between the Behavioral Plasticity Research Institute (https://behavioralplasticity.org) and the Ag100Pest project (http://i5k.github.io/ag100pest).
S. piceifrons is closely related to Schistocerca americana,[3] but exhibits a greater degree of phase polymorphism referred to in the technical literature as "density-dependent phenotypic plasticity.[4] It is the swarming locust of tropical America.[4] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schistocerca_piceifrons)
