The Vietnamese walking stick is an invasive species native to Vietnam. This project produced a draft genome of this species for use as a model system in the study of plant cell wall breakdown by endogenously produced insect enzymes. As obligate leaf feeders who lack symbiotic microbes, the stick insects are ideally suited to this task.
